the orion challenge

July 11, 2011

My friend is giving her husband a collection of things having to do with the constellation “Orion” for his birthday and asked a few of her closest friends to either draw, paint or come up with some creative handmade gift having to do with Orion.  She said it’s a special thing in their relationship and she wants to overwhelm him with all things Orion.

.. I found all these images of a performer named Orion, mixed them with some constellation images and made magenets for their fridge.

photo booth party

April 11, 2011

I figured out how to print black and white strips vertically (like you’d get at the boardwalk) and think it’s the best recipe for a fun party.  We are planning another one in September! Baltimore is such a rad city and I’m hoping to generate and connect interesting, fun creative people (and maybe find a boyfriend).

Advent Calendar 2010

December 15, 2010

Here it is.. the fourth annual community advent calendar!

I painted this image and made 25 calendars on a backed cardboard tri-fold.  Behind each door is an advent thought- either an instruction, verse, wish, memory, recipe, image, etc.  I sent a request for advent submissions and got responses from these wonderful people:  Meredith, Jeannie and Matt, Dorothy, Kim, Becky, Glen and Kristen, Jeff, Michael, Uncle Peter, John David, Audrey, Bryan, Emily, Halley, Mark, Rachel, Katie, Brenna, me, Matt and Anna.  Each of them received an advent calendar of their own.  Next year, look out for my email and you can participate too.

pumpkin camera

October 30, 2010

This October I started taking an alternative photography class at MICA University in Baltimore with Jonathan Trundle – one of the best teachers I’ve ever had in my life.  I started out doing a lot of pinhole photography – all of the below images were taken with a pumpkin.

I’ve sort of neglected this blog because all of my creative energy has been on photography.. but last week I made this video with Rob Perry about the Best of Baltimore .  I’ve finally committed myself to this city, and have been loving it which is a huge deal for me.  On the plane ride to my yiaya’s 90th birthday, I wrote this song and drew the storyboards for this video which has been entered into the City Paper’s Best of Baltimore video contest.  I hope it’s a winner..
